OLD MOTHER SHUTTLE

Old Mother Shuttle

lived in a coal scuttle

along with her dog and her cat,

what they ate I can't tell

but 'tis known very well that

not one of the party was fat.

Old Mother Shuttle scoured out her coal scuttle

and washed both her dog and her cat,

the cat scratched her nose

so they came to hard blows

and who was the gainer by that.

RIDE A COCK-HORSE

Ride a cock-horse to Bambury Cross

to see a fine lady ride on a white horse;

with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,

she shall have music wherever she goes.

THERE WAS AN OLD WOMAN WHO LIVED IN A SHOE

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe,

she had so many children

she didn't know what to do;

she gave them some broth without any bread,

she whipped them all soundly

and put them to bed.

RING AROUND THE ROSIES

Ring around the rosies

a pocketful of posies atishoo,

ONCE I SAW A LITTLE BIRD

Once I saw a little bird

Come hop, hop, hop, and I cried,

Little bird, will you stop, stop, stop

I was going to the window to say, how do you do?

but he shook his little tail and away he flew.

THERE WAS A JOLLY MILLER

There was a jolly miller once,

lived on the river Dee,

he worked and sang from morn till night

no lark more blithe than he,

and this the burden of his song forever used to be,

I care for nobody, no, not I;

If nobody cares for me

THREE BLIND MICE

Three blind mice,

Three blind mice,

Three blind mice,

see how they run,

see how they run,

they all ran after the farmer's wife,

who cut off their tails with a carving knife,

did you ever see such a thing in your life,

as three blind mice.
